Natural Stone Care
A practical care plan starts with the exact stone.
Daily care
Use a pH-neutral cleaner suitable for the selected stone, a clean soft cloth or mop, and prompt spill removal. Grit can abrade finishes; use entrance mats and avoid dragging furniture.
Heat, acids and sealing
Use trivets under hot cookware. Marble and other acid-sensitive stones may etch from acidic spills; sealing does not prevent etching. Where an impregnating treatment is appropriate, follow the stone and treatment supplier’s instructions.
Do a small trial
Test any new cleaner or treatment on an inconspicuous sample. Maintenance depends on mineral composition, finish, treatment, use and exposure; no single schedule fits every stone.
